It looked being another quiet week at Gladstone Airport this week until Wednesday 14 August when a pair of Skytrans Airlines Dash-8-300 aircraft touched down in the port city on (what's believed to be) Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flights from Brisbane.
First to touch down - and secure a parking spot on the Gladstone Airport apron - was Dash-8-300 VH-QQN which arrived as SKP1840 from Brisbane.
Later, Dash-8-300 VH-QQM also arrived into Gladstone, touching down as SKP1842 also from Brisbane. As local plane spotter Michael F's photo below shows, VH-QQM was parked on the main taxiway at Gladstone Airport for the night.
It was certainly a busy night at Gladstone Airport on Wednesday 14 August with Michael F capturing some more of the action including the arrival of QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 Next Gen VH-LQJ from Brisbane as QLK2346.
VH-LQJ joined Virgin Australia Regional Airlines ATR 72-500 VH-FVU and Virgin Australia Embraer E-190 VH-ZPD on the terminal parking apron.
A little later, Michael managed to capture a couple of fantastic photos as VH-ZPD departed for Brisbane as VOZ1716.
Venturing back to Gladstone Airport on Thursday 15 August, Michael was able to take some more great photos this time of the early morning action. QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOY was captured arriving into Gladstone at the conclusion of the first leg of the QLK2300 service from Brisbane to Cairns via Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville.
As VH-QOY arrived at its parking gate, Skytrans Dash-8-300 VH-QQM was moved from its overnight parking spot on the main taxiway to an available parking gate on the Gladstone Airport apron, also joining fellow Skytrans Dash-8-300 VH-QQN which had remained in it original parking position overnight.
Meanwhile, Michael was on hand early enough on Thursday 15 August to capture the arrival of the morning's General Aviation Maintenance (GAM) freight service arrival from Biloela / Thangool Airport which was flown by AeroCommander 500-S (Shrike Commander) VH-UJN.
Sincere thanks to Michael for find time out of his busy schedule to capture, edit, and send through his fantastic images from Gladstone Airport this week! Really appreciation mate!
