Also Touching Down at Rockhampton Airport Over the Weekend – Execujet Challenger 604 VH-VSZ and Raytheon Premier Bizjet N7088S

It was a busy weekend at Rockhampton Airport with a nice variety of visitors to call in – including a nice pair of bizjets in the form of Execujet Challenger 604 VH-VSZ and Mackay-based Raytheon 390 Premier 1 N7088S.

N7088S touched down at Rockhampton from Mackay on Saturday 3 August, and as shown below, was parked on the new corporate apron outside the Peace Aviation hangar on the General Aviation side of Rockhampton Airport.

N7088S eventually departed late on Sunday 4 August for Mackay.

Bombardier CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 VH-VSZ called into Rockhampton Airport during a busy morning in Sunday 4 August, touching down from Sydney.

It was also parked on the new corporate apron near Peace Aviation, and was captured by Rockhampton plane spotters Don W and ‘IAD’ as it departed soon after for Brisbane.

On the military side of things, there are still various military transport aircraft still calling into Rockhampton Airport after the conclusion of Military Exercise Talisman Saber 2013.  On Saturday 3 August, Don W captured United States Marine Corps (USMC) Bell Boeing MV-22B Osprey 168031 / EP-08 as it visited Rockhampton briefly.

On Sunday 4 August, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-005 called into Rockhampton as “Dragon 4”, departing later to Darwin (see Blog post below).

There has also been reports of RAAF Lockheed C-130J-30 transport aircraft calling into Rockhampton Airport as well as the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA).

As the photos above show, the United Sates Air Force (USAF) Boeing C17A Globemaster III 90-0533 remains parked on the Southern end of the Rockhampton airport apron.

Lastly, United States Navy (USN) Lockheed C-130T Hercules - serial 165160 - coded JW5160 - of the VR-62 Fleet Logistic Unit - was photographed departing Rockhampton Airport on Sunday 4 August as “Convoy 7882”.

A big thanks to the Rockhampton Airport plane spotters for sending through their fantastic images from the weekend!
