Some Plane Spotting Photos from Emerald Airport incl GAM Dornier 228 VH-VJN and Citation Bravo Bizjet VH-XBP

On Monday 24 October, I took a quick drive to Emerald Airport to check out some of the action and to capture a couple of photos of General Aviation Maintenance (GAM) Dornier DO 228-202 VH-VJN which, as we reported last week, has now taken over the week-daily Toll Freight Express run from Brisbane.

VH-VJN touched down at Emerald earlier on Monday morning from Brisbane and Biloela / Thangool Airport and was photographed preparing for departure back to Brisbane but via Rockhampton Airport.

It was joined on the Western apron by fellow GAM AeroCommander 500-S VH-UJX which touched down at Emerald Airport from Longreach and Barcaldine Airports.

Parked nearby at Emerald Airport after arriving earlier on Monday 24 October was Maxem Aviation (of Western Australia) Cessna 550 Citation Bravo bizjet VH-XBP.

It touched down from Brisbane and Mackay Airports and was expected to return to Brisbane later on Monday.

UPDATE!  VH-XBP spent the night at Emerald Airport and departed to Brisbane late on Tuesday 25 October.

Also parked at Emerald Airport on Monday 24 October was Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Raytheon B200 VH-FDZ which had earlier arrived from its Roma Airport base as "FlyDoc 458".

This RFDS King Air is currently configured to transport doctors and other specialist around to remote communities and on this occasion flew specialists to Emerald for an overnight stay.  At the time of writing it is due to return to Roma on Tuesday 25 October.

Finally, a pair of Alliance Airlines Fokker F-70 jets were spotted visiting Emerald Airport late on Monday 24 October on different flights.

VH-QQX was spotted arriving from Brisbane as UTY1265 - one of 2-3 daily flights that Alliance Airlines now operates for Virgin Australia Airlines.

While in the fading light shortly after sunset, VH-JFB was spotted on short finals as UTY4078 from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

This is one of two Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flights that Alliance Airlines continues to operate each week on a Monday evening and then again early on a Tuesday.

A great afternoon!
