More Photos of US Marines Lockheed KC-130J Hercules 169532 "Sumo 89" - Plus RAAF Lockheed C-130J-30 Hercules A97-465 "Trojan 62" Arrives Back at Rockhampton Airport

During the late afternoon on Sunday 23 June, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Lockheed C-130J-30 Hercules A97-465 "Trojan 62" touched down at Rockhampton Airport yet again.  It arrived direct from Darwin having departed to there from Rocky early on Saturday 22 June.

It parked alongside the visiting United States Marine Corps (USMC) Lockheed KC-130J Hercules 169532 (Tail Code QD-9532) "Sumo 89", which arrived into Rockhampton Airport late on Saturday 22 June, also from Darwin.

As mentioned, the KC-130J Hercules is flown by the Marine Aerial Refueller Transport Squadron 152 (VMGR-152) "Sumos" which are stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and form part of Marine Aircraft Group 12 (MAG-12) and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1st MAW).

At the time of writing, the RAAF Herc A97-465 "Trojan 62" has departed Rockhampton Airport and looks to be heading to RAAF Base Richmond, while the USMC Herc looks to be staying for at least another night.

UPDATE!  On Monday 24 June, the USMC Lockheed KC-130J Hercules 169532 (Tail Code QD-9532) "Sumo 89" departed Rockhampton Airport for Guam.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotters 'IAD' and Scott H for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
