Local plane spotter 'IAD' was also on hand at Rockhampton Airport late on Thursday 18 September and also captured some great action during the afternoon and evening including the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing AH-64D Apache and Eurocopter / Aerospatiale AS332M Super Puma helicopters which were all returning from the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA).
These, and the two RSAF Boeing CH-47SD Chinook helicopters, have all commenced flying in support of the Singapore Armed Force's Exercise Wallaby 2014.
As mentioned below, Australian Army NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopter A40-029 also called into Rockhampton Airport late on Thursday 18 September. It was heading South from Townsville to Oakey.
Finally, a few non-military movements captured by 'IAD' on Thursday 18 September included the Queensland Police Service (Airwing) Cessna 208 VH-PSQ which, along with sister-ship VH-PSY, was in the beef capital due to a major police incident in nearby Mount Morgan. Reports suggest that VH-PSQ performed some aerial surveillance in the area.
Another aerial surveillance aircraft in the form of Surveillance Australia / Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (Cobham Aviation) Dash-8-202 VH-ZZA also arrived at Rockhampton Airport on Thursday afternoon.
Finally, after the sun went down on Thursday 18 September, 'IAD' captured some great photos of the two Singapore Airlines Boeing B777-200s 9V-SRJ and 9V-SRH which both called in during the evening - see Blog post below.
While he was there, Virgin Australia Embraer E-190 VH-ZPF and QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200 VH-NXM were also spotted parked on the Rockhampton Airport apron while operating scheduled services from and back to Brisbane. The crew of VH-ZPF were particularly interested in the night's activities around the Singapore Airlines B777-200!
