The first Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Lockheed C-130H Hercules transport aircraft has touched down at Rockhampton Airport in preparation for the start of the Singapore Armed Force's Exercise Wallaby 2014.
On Tuesday 9 September, C-130H '733' touched down from Darwin as "Singa 9450". It had arrived in the 'top end' on the previous evening.
Local plane spotters Ben O and 'IAD' were at different ends of Rockhampton Airport and captured these fantastic photos as '733' touched down on Runway 15 and then taxied to its parking position on the Northern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron.
At the time of writing, the Hercules remains parked on the apron, with (reportedly) an expected departure time of 9am on Wednesday 10 September, There are of course, more RSAF C-130H Hercules flights into Rockhampton Airport expected over the coming days carrying gear for the Exercise. There will also most likely be a Herc based at Rocky for the Exercise.
Also of note, the Oakey-based RSAF Eurocopter / Aerospatiale AS332M Super Puma helicopters are expected to touch down this coming weekend - reportedly on Saturday 13 September. While the first heavy-jet troop charter is expected to touch down at Rockhampton Airport late on Wednesday 17 September, with Boeing B777-200 and Airbus A330-300 aircraft of Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand expected to operate the majority of the charters through to mid-November.
Sincere thanks to Ben and 'IAD' for sending through these great photos from today - and to think the Exercise hasn't even started!
