A Rare Weekend Visit as Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-007 Completes a Missed Approach at Rockhampton Airport

On Saturday 16 July, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-007 was noted completing a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport.  Certainly a rare sight on the weekend!

The MRTT had earlier departed Cairns for Townsville before departing there for Rockhampton Airport. After completing the airwork, A39-007 flew down to RAAF Base Amberley.

A39-007 was heard to be flying as "Dragon 40".

Of interest, A39-007 as "Dragon 40" had departed Amberley on Friday 15 July for air-to-air refuelling exercises off the South-East Queensland coast before then flying into Brisbane Airport.  From there it flew all the way up to Cairns where it spent the night.
