Exercise Wallaby 2017 - Qantas Airways A330-200 VH-EBV and Singapore Airlines B777-200 9V-SVF at Rockhampton Airport

On Monday 4 September, the first 'wave' of heavy jet passenger charter flights in support of the Singapore Armed Forces Exercise Wallaby 2017 concluded with a pair of spectacular arrivals into Rockhampton Airport - and local plane spotter Daniel B was one of many plane spotters that were on hand to capture the action.

On this occasion, the first aircraft to arrive was Qantas Airways Airbus A330-202 VH-EBV which touched down at Rockhampton Airport direct from Singapore's Changi Airport as QFA6038.  It had earlier flown into Singapore from Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport operating the scheduled QFA37 service.

As noted during its previous visits to Rockhampton Airport, VH-EBV wears additional titles highlighting Qantas' membership of the 'One World Alliance' - a worldwide alliance of some 14 major airlines and several more affiliates.

After offloading another full flight of personnel and their bags - as well as some pallets of cargo - VH-EBV departed to Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport again as QFA6038.

A short while later on Monday 4 September, Singapore Airlines Boeing B777-200 9V-SVF returned to Rockhampton Airport for its second visit in three days.  It again touched down also directly from Changi flying as SIA8931.

After it too offloaded a full flight of personnel, bags, and boxes of other cargo, 9V-SVF returned to Singapore's Changi Airport again as SIA8932.

As mentioned, this sees the end of the first 'wave' of heavy jet passenger charter flights in support of Exercise Wallaby 2017.  Another 'wave' of flights is expected later in September.

A great morning!

Sincere thanks to Daniel for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
