VH-LZK arrived into Rocky from Townsville and Labona Station Airstrip within Adani Australia's Carmichael Coal Mine site as HND319/320. It remained at Rockhampton Airport.
While VH-TFQ flew down from Townsville as HND430.
After a short time on the ground, it returned to Townsville but as HND648.
As reported below, Hinterland Aviation has secured a contract to complete Fly-in Fly-ouy (FIFO) charter flights from both Townsville and Rockhampton Airports to the Carmichael Coal Mine site. Current scheduled indicate 1x week-daily flight from Rocky while there seems to be 1-2 operating from Townsville each week day. It also seems that Hinterland Aviation has added signage within the Rockhampton Airport terminal building including their own dedicated check-in counter.
Of interest, fellow Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-ETF completed a return flight to Labona Station Airstrip from and back to Townsville also on Friday 10 July.
The Labona Station Airstrip upgrade was recently completed with sealed runway now about 1080m long.
Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Michael M for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
