Just when local plane spotter 'IAD' thought his day of plane spotting couldn't get any better, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III A41-209 also performed a missed approach onto Runway 15 at Rockhampton Airport on Thursday 21 August.
A41-209 - which has recently been in Europe assisting with the recovery efforts after the MH17 disaster - was using the radio callsign of "Stallion 75" and was noted to fly up from RAAF Base Amberley. After the missed approach, the giant transport plane made a sweeping left-hand turn towards the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA).
At the completion of its airwork, A41-209 was later heard to overfly Rocky and proceed South back to Amberley.
Again, sincere thanks to 'IAD' for sending through some more awesome images from a 'terrific Thursday' of plane spotting at Rockhampton Airport.
