CASA Flight Safety Checks at CQ Airports This Week Flown by Corporate Air Cessna Conquest VH-VEH

As posted below, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has commenced special flight safety checks at 16 regional Queensland airports this week with, on Wednesday 6 August, Corporate Air / Vee H Aviation Cessna 441 VH-VEH, spotted in the skies over Gladstone conducting some very low-level and high-speed passes over and around Gladstone Airport.

A series of low-level flights will be undertaken at each airport to check flight paths and to ensure navigation aids are operational and not suffering interference.  The flights will also be looking for any new obstacles that could be a danger to aviation safety.

Airports that will be undergoing safety checks include Bundaberg, Chinchilla, Clermont, Emerald, Gayndah, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Kingaroy, Mackay, Maryborough, Moranbah, Rockhampton, Roma, Sunshine Coast, Taroom and Thangool.

Local plane spotter Michael F - who was enjoying the Gladstone Show public holiday - popped out to Gladstone Airport and captured a couple of great photos of VH-VEH as it touched down for fuel.

Shortly after, VH-VEH departed Gladstone and was later spotted in the skies above and around Rockhampton Airport, again performing several low-level and high-speed passes before it landed for the evening.

I would expect that VH-VEH will continue flying on Thursday, possibly flying to the West?

Sincere thanks to local plane spotters Michael F in Gladstone and Kayanne H in Rockhampton for sending through these great photos!
