Even though the highlight of the week at Gladstone Airport was no doubt the visit of the very sleek Little Aviation Gulfstream G-V-SP (G550) bizjet VH-LAL, local plane spotter Michael F has sent through some images of some of the other visitors to call into the Industrial city over the last week or so.
Late on Tuesday 19 August, Michael also captured some lovely photos of M.I. Helicopters Eurocopter AS.355F2 VH-JZX as it departed to parts unknown.
Later still on Tuesday, Alliance Airlines Fokker F-70 VH-JFB was noted arriving at Gladstone Airport as UTY650 on the regular 9-day Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flight from Brisbane. It departed early on Wednesday 20 August as UTY651 for Brisbane.
Also on Wednesday 20 August, Bell 429 'Global Ranger' helicopter VH-MJI touched down from Mackay. It was later noted flying around Gladstone presumably on demonstration flights for local operators. It departed to the Helitek Helipad on the Brisbane River about lunchtime on Thursday 21 August.
More recently on Saturday 23 August, Michael captured some more late afternoon visitors to Gladstone Airport including Partenavia P.68 Observer VH-PGN. The little twin is registered in New South Wales however it wears "Island Hopper" titles, and I have personally sighted this aircraft in Northern parts of Queensland.
Michael also captured a couple of lovely photos of Peace Aviation's Cessna 172 VH-OCN as it departed Gladstone.
And also the classic Air Charter CQ / Australia by Seaplane De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver Mk1 Floatplane VH-IDO as it returned to Gladstone Airport.
Finally, Michael also captured QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200 VH-NXK as it departed Gladstone for Brisbane as QJE1715.
Sincere thanks to Michael for capturing and sending through these great photos of some great visitors to Gladstone!
