Another great week of plane spotting at Mackay Airport started with - and was probably highlighted by - the visit of Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 VH-VFN last Sunday 17 August. It was operating the scheduled JST882/883 service from and back to Brisbane.
Also on Sunday 17 August, I later noted that Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Beech B350 Super King Air A32-671 called in from Townsville as "Dingo 21".
As we mentioned below, on Monday 18 August 1966-build Beech 65 Queen Air VH-FDV touched down from Caloundra. The former Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) machine seems to be still parked at Mackay Airport with the photos below taken on Wednesday 20 August.
Meanwhile, also on Monday 18 August, Bell 429 'Global Ranger' helicopter VH-MJI touched down from Rockhampton. The chopper appeared to be in town to demonstrate to Mackay Helicopters, with information suggesting that it conducted local flights on Tuesday 19 August. VH-MJI then departed to Gladstone on Wednesday 20 August.
On Friday 22 August, a pair of the 'old-and-new' Virgin Embraer colour schemes appeared on the ground together at Mackay Airport. In the background is E-190 VH-ZPJ which is now in the new Virgin Australia colour scheme, while in the front is VH-ZPM which is wearing the old red Pacific Blue colours and titles.
VH-ZPM eventually departed to Sydney as VOZ1474.
Finally, also on Friday 22 August, Bundaberg-based CromAir Cessna 414A VH-CBT called into Mackay from Bundy. After dropping of its passengers, departed back to there.
