On Monday 15 February, Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 VH-XWS operated a flight into Hamilton Island Airport on behalf of QantasLink flying the morning return service from and back to Cairns as UTY2600/2601.  The QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 that normal operates this flight was cancelled.

A little later on Monday 15 February, Business Aviation Solutions Bombardier CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 bizjet VH-BLM also called into Hamilton Island Airport from its Gold Coast base.  It later departed to Sydney.

Another Challenger 604 bizjet visiting Hamilton Island - 75 Express Inc. Bombardier CL-600-2B16 N75KH which arrived the previous day - also departed on Monday 15 February but to the Gold Coast.

Finally, as mentioned on our Facebook page, late on Sunday 14 February, Beijing Capital Aviation (Hanergy Group) Gulfstream Aerospace G-V-SP Gulfstream G550 ‪‎bizjet‬ B-8131 called into Hamilton Island Airport from Beijing (China) and Cairns.

B-8131 has visited Cairns a couple of times in the last week and returned to Cairns Sunday evening before returning to Beijing in the wee small hours of Monday 15 February.  A big day for the pilots!

Finally, as we also posted on our Facebook page last week, last Monday 8 February saw a 'King' tide which inundated a section of the Hamilton Island Airport apron.

The high tide nearly turned a little Cessna into a Floatplane!
