After Delays - The future of the Wide Bay International Airshow at Bundaberg Airport is in Jeopardy after Withdrawal of Major Sponsor

The Bundaberg News-Mail newspaper has recently reported that the future of the Wide Bay International Airshow is in jeopardy after the event's major sponsor - Wide Bay Australia - has ended its support.  The airshow was already floundering, and it was announced last year the event due to be held in August this year would be postponed to 2014.  Airshow deputy chairman Neil McPhillips cited a lack of funding and the economic climate for the decision to postpone the event for a year.

But the decision by Wide Bay Australia to withdraw its support means the event is unlikely to go ahead next year.  Wide Bay Australia CEO Martin Barrett said this week the company would be unable to sponsor the airshow again.  Mr Barrett said the company's commitment to the airshow over the years had been a good one.  But the company now had other commitments that made it impossible to continue its sponsorship.
