AirServices Super King Air VH-FIY and Three Motor-Gliders at Gladstone Airport Over the Weekend

On Friday 3 October, AirServices Australia / Pearl Aviation Hawker Beechcraft B300 Super King Air VH-FIY called into Gladstone Airport from Brisbane.  On Saturday 4 October, local plane spotter Michael F captured VH-FIY as it operated a four-hour navigational aid (navaid) calibration flight out of Gladstone.

VH-FIY departed Gladstone on Sunday 5 October on a 'planned' flight to Townsville.  However, flight tracking websites reveal that VH-FIY performed further navaid calibration at both Rockhampton and Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airports, before landing at Hamilton Island Airport.

From Hamo, VH-FIY departed to Townsville.

Of interest, fellow AirServices Australia / Pearl Aviation Hawker Beechcraft B300 Super King Air VH-FIZ was spotted conducting similar navaid calibration at Sydney Airport!

Meanwhile, a trio of motor-glider aircraft were the other highlight at Gladstone Airport on Saturday 4 October.  The three gliders were believed to called in from Emerald.  They included Caboolture-based Pacific Soaring (Come Gliding - Gliding Adventure Flights) Diamond HK-36 TC VH-GHM and VH-JLL.

Also Phoenix Air S.R.O. Glider VH-GHX soon followed.

Finally, Michael also captured QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOF as it was on short finals to Gladstone Airport.

Some great photos from Michael, who was very appreciative of some time-out to enjoy the weekend!
