Virgin Australia's Newest B737-800 VH-YIW Operates its First Ever Service to Mackay Airport Wednesday

After being delivered to the airline in mid-September, Virgin Australia's newest Boeing B737-800 aircraft VH-YIW has operated its first ever revenue service on Wednesday 1 October into Mackay Airport.

It was operating the early morning VOZ601/604 rotation from and back to Brisbane.

VH-YIW has been noted wearing the name "Mona Vale Beach".

One of our roving contributors was on hand to capture a couple of photos as VH-YIW taxied out from the Mackay Airport parking apron on departure to Brisbane.  Apparently its departure was delayed a little due to a 'sticky' overhead locker door - obviously not 'worn in' yet!

Incidentally, Virgin has also recently taken delivery of fellow B737-800 VH-YIZ, however it appears that this aircraft is being mostly utilised on International flights from Australia to Bali (Denpasar).
