Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Lockheed AP-3C Orion Missed Approach at Rockhampton Airport Wednesday

After all the excitement of the early KC-30A MRTT visitor to Rockhampton Airport on Wednesday 9 July, local spotters have reported seeing and hearing a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Lockheed AP-3C Orion performed a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport later in the afternoon.

The Orion was thought to be using the radio callsign of "Striker 12", making from 10 Sqn based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia.  It continued North-bound, possibly heading to Townsville.

Meanwhile, I've been advised that Australian Army Sikorsky S-70A-9 Blackhawk helicopter A25-206 called into Mackay Airport on Wednesday 9 July from Townsville.  It later departed back to Townsville, and was noted using the callsign "Spartan 206".
