On Friday 14 August, a pair of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft were noted completing air-to-air refueling exercises in the Whitsundays along with fellow RAAF Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-006.
The two C-17s and KC-30A looked to all fly up from RAAF Base Amberley to the Whitsundays - around Hamilton Island in particular - and complete their exercises before then flying back South and returning to Amberley.
The two C-17s were heard to be flying in formation as "Charger", while the KC-30A was heard to be flying as "Dragon 20".
