As we posted below, six Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) General Dynamics (Lockheed Martin) F-16C/D Block 52 Version Fighting Falcon jets touched down at Rockhampton Airport on Monday 7 October.
Local plane spotter Ben O was on hand as the six fighter jets - identified as '625', '639', '611', '691', '613', and '694' of 140 Squadron of the RSAF - all touched down in quick succession following their flight from RAAF Base Tindal in the Northern Territory. They were heard to be using the one radio callsign of "Singa 3311".
Around the same time the F-16s touched down, RSAF Lockheed C-130H Hercules '735' was captured departing on a sortie to the West using the radio callsign "Condor".
It returned soon after.
Also flying a sortie out of and back to Rockhampton Airport was the pair of RSAF Boeing CH-47SD Chinook helicopters - identified as '88195' and '88196' - which departed together using the radio callsign "cyclops".
They were both photographed returning some time later.
As the afternoon went on, RSAF Lockheed C-130H '735' departed yet again on a sortie out of Rockhampton Airport.
Then a pair of RSAF Lockheed C-130H transport aircraft touched down at Rockhampton Airport from the North.
As shown below, the two Hercs - '731' and '734' - were parked on Gate 6 on the Southern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron for unloading.
It was truly a spectacular day of plane spotting at Rockhampton Airport on Monday 7 October. By the late afternoon, the Airport was a busy place with pretty much all RSAF equipment on the ground parked either on the Airport apron, or either side of Runway 04/22.
We sincerely thank Ben O for sending through these stunning photos!
