Rockhampton Hospital will get a $5 Million Helipad

A $5 milltion helipad will be built on top of the $160 million Ward Block development nearing completion at the Rockhampton Hospital.

In making the announcement, Minister for Health Lawrence Springborg said the rooftop helipad would allow patients transported from across Central Queensland by helicopter to land onsite at Rockhampton Hospital, giving them direct access to the Hospital Emergency Department.

From a letterbox-drop newsletter received recently

The Rockhampton-based Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service and other rescue helicopters currently land at Rockhampton Airport and patients are transported 2km to Rockhampton Hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service.
