QantasLink B717-200 VH-YQW 'Tassie Devil' Special Livery Pops into Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport Saturday

Noted calling in to Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport on Saturday 7 June was QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200 VH-YQW.  It was operating the recently commenced weekend jet services into Hervey Bay from Sydney, touching down as QJE1558 and later departing as QJE1559.

The aircraft – named 'The Tassie Devil' with unique decals – was unveiled last weekend to coincide with the launch of Boeing 717 jet services between Melbourne and Hobart.

It was certainly a nice surprise to see this aircraft grace the skies of the Fraser Coast!

Meanwhile, Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 VH-FWI was also noted calling into Hervey Bay Airport early on Saturday 7 June.  The Fokker touched down from Brisbane and later departed to Tamworth as UTY551.  It later returned to Hervey Bay from Tamworth and eventually departed back to Brisbane as UTY552.

It's probably worth mentioning that Virgin Australia Boeing B737-800 VH-YFE operated the airline's jet service from and back to Sydney (VOZ1555/1556) on Saturday 7 June as well.

A rare trio of jets to call into Hervey Bay!
