Initial preparations are now underway for a 152 room on-airport hotel as the first of several major construction projects planned at Mackay Airport.

The hotel is the first step in fulfilling the 20 year vision for Mackay Airport which includes around $900 million construction projects to create a Terminal Business Zone and Commercial and Aviation Precincts on the Mackay Airport land holdings.  Read more HERE.

The project has received State Government development approval. The hotel plus the associated development of airport infrastructure surrounding it will represent an investment by NQA of around $30 million.

Mackay Airport general manager Rob Porter has thanked the people of Mackay for their patience as preparations for the hotel got under way.  To make way for the hotel, some changes to the car park layout have occured.  He indicated that with shelter from weather an issue for travellers and Airpor visitors, an all-weather covered central walkway spine will be included as part of the whole hotel, terminal and car park precinct redevelopment.  He also assures that there will be plenty of parking spaces for everyone travelling through Mackay Airport for workdays or holidays.

More information on the project, as well as an updated car park map is available on the Mackay Airport website at:  www.mackayairport.com.au
