A great crowd of spotters young and old gathered early on Wednesday 19 November to watch the spectacular sight of Volga-Dnepr Antonov An-124-100 RA-82046 touching down at Rockhampton Airport.
It the touched down on Rocky's Runway 33 after completing the shortish hop from Cairns as VDA2427. It had been parked there since arriving over a week ago.
RA-82046 was parked in the 'usual' spot of Bay 6 on the Southern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron. Over the course of Wednesday, the Antonov will be loaded with several Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) helicopters that have been participating the recently completed Singapore Armed Force's Exercise Wallaby 2014.
There are reports around that the Antonov should be departing around dawn (4am) on Thursday 20 November.
Sincere thanks to local spotters Kayanne H and Travis W for sending through this great collection of photos from this morning's action!
