Pilatus Britten-Norman BN2A-21 Islander YJ-AM1 (ex VH-OBJ) Departs Maryborough Airport on Delivery to Vanuatu

A couple of great photos from David G of Maryborough Aviation Services (MAS) who on Wednesday 22 June said a fond farewell to a long-term restoration project in the form of Pilatus Britten-Norman BN2A-21 Islander YJ-AM1 (ex VH-OBJ) which departed to the Gold Coast on the first leg of a delivery flight to a local operator in Vanuatu.

The Islander has been in the MAS hangar undergoing a complete restoration since December 2012 and has only recently had the titles and colours of  'Air Melanesiae'.

It is one of two recently noted Vanuatu-registered light General Aviation (GA) aircraft with Piper PA-23-250 Aztec YJ-AM2 (ex VH-KMA) expected to join the Islander and be exported overseas in the coming days.

Meanwhile, making two visits to Maryborough Airport on Tuesday 21 June was Shadforth's Plant Hire Raytheon (Beech) C90A (C90B King Air) VH-JEO.  On both flights, it arrived from and later departed back to the Sunshine Coast.

It's worth noting that VH-JEO operated a similar pair of flights between the Sunny Coast and Maryborough the previous week.

Of interest, VH-JEO wears the name 'Geoff' on the port-side of the aircraft - complete with a photo.  This is in memory of the aircraft owner's son who passed away at a young age.

Sincere thanks to David and the team at Maryborough Aviation Services for allow us to share these great photos!

  1. In the first paragraph, it says VH-JEO is a C90A, but painted on the side of fuselage is C90B?
