Kakadu Air Cessna 208B Caravan VH-KNQ Spotted Operating for GSL Aviation at the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour

It was interesting to note this week that Kakadu Air Services Cessna 208B Grand Caravan VH-KNQ has turned up at the Whitsunday Coast Airport at Shute Harbour and seems to be operating for the locally-based GSL Aviation on their scenic and other general charter flights around the Whitsundays.

Reports suggest that the normally Darwin-based Grand Caravan has been 'cross hired' by GSL Aviation perhaps to provide cover for one of their own Cessna 208 aircraft.

UPDATE!  On Friday 27 October, VH-KNQ was noted flying from the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour to Toowoomba so its days in the Whitsundays might now be over?!

And further research shows that GSL Aviation has recently acquired another Cessna 208 Grand Caravan registered VH-TGX (ex N910HL) which departed the Whitsunday Airport for Cairns in Friday 13 October and seems to operating scenic and other general charter flights out of Cairns.

GSL Aviation also operates Cessna 208B Caravans VH-TIY – which also seems to be operating out of Cairns - and VH-NGS – which was last noted flying into the Whitsunday Airport in August.

Meanwhile, it’s been a while since we’ve personally been at the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour and I’ve also noticed that GSL Aviation has also recently started operating Gippsaero GA8 Airvan VH-ANE.

It appears that VH-ANE is a recent arrival into the Whitsundays fresh off the Gippsaero (formerly Gippland Aeronautics) production line at the Latrobe Valley Airport in Morwell, Victoria.

Finally, while on the topic of Cessna Caravans, it’s worth noting that Skydive Australia (Skydive the Beach Group) Cessna 208 Grand Caravan VH-BCR is still operating for the locally-based Skydive Airlie Beach out of the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour.
