Queensland Police Service (Airwing) Cessna 560 Citation Ultra Bizjet VH-PSU Calls into Mackay and Rockhampton Airports

On Saturday 1 April, the Queensland Police Service (Airwing) Cessna 560 Citation Ultra bizjet VH-PSU was noted arriving into Mackay Airport from Brisbane.  It brought Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to town to inspect the progress in the recovery in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Debbie.

After a couple of hours on the ground, VH-PSU was noted departed Mackay and landing at Rockhampton Airport.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk then gave a press conference highlighting the looming major flood event that will hit Rockhampton in the next couple of days.

With flood levels expected to exceed 9-metres, the Rockhampton Regional Council has advised travellers that Rockhampton Airport will close from around midday on Monday 3 April with flood water expected to inundate parts of the Airport.

Meanwhile, VH-PSU returned to Brisbane later in the afternoon.

Of interest, the Queensland Police Service (Airwing) Raytheon B1900D VH-PSK has had a busy week of flying mostly between Brisbane, Rockhampton and Mackay, presumably ferrying additional police to the cyclone, and now flood-hit areas within CQ.
