A Few More Photos of the Military Action at Rockhampton Airport Last Week

Local plane spotter Kayanne H has also been out to Rockhampton Airport a bit during the last week and has kindly sent through some of the photos she has taken of some of the comings and goings in association with Exercise Hamel and joint Military Exercise Talisman Sabre 2015 which are due to kick off in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) next week.

One of the star arrivals over the last week was Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) British Aerospace (BAe) Hawk 127 jet - serial A27-04 - which arrived from the South as "Panther 20" on Wednesday 1 July.

On Thursday 2 July, Atlas Air Boeing B747-400 N465MC touched down at Rockhampton Airport direct from Hickam Field (formerly Hickam Air Force Base) in Hawaii, flying as GTI8005 "Giant 8005", bringing over 300 US Army troops to participate in the Exercises.

Also on Thursday, RAAF Boeing C-17A Globemaster III A41-209 touched down from RAAF Base Amberley during the afternoon as "Stallion 11".

Kayanne has also captured a few nice photos of the resident and visiting Australian Army Sikorsky S-70A-9 Blackhawk and NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopters at various times during the week.

And finally, on Thursday 2 July, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Beech B350 Super King Air A32-372 made a rare appearance in Central Queensland, calling into Rockhampton from the South as "Hudson 35".

It's been great to catch up with Kayanne and do some spotting with her and some of the other local plane spotters!
