Commercial Operations Returning to Normal at Hamilton Island Airport - And a Couple of Bizjets Touch Down too!

Commercial operations looked to have returned to normal at Hamilton Island Airport on Friday 24 July with all the scheduled Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) flights from all airlines touching down without incident.  One interesting arrival into Hamo on Friday 24 July though was an 'extra' Qantas Airways service from and back to Sydney.

On Wednesday 22 July, and as reported below, the scheduled QFA866/867 service diverted to Townsville and was unable to land at Hamo.  On Friday, Qantas B737-800 VH-XZD operated an additional QFA866/867 service (presumably) to bring stranded tourists into the Whitsundays.

Also on Friday 24 July, a nice pairs of bizjets also touched down at Hamilton Island Airport.  Shortstop Jet Charter Learjet 35A VH-OVB was noted arriving from Melbourne (Essendon) Airport and Sydney.

While Embraer EMB-550 Legacy 500 bizjet N142GZ made a brief visit to Hamo also on Friday, touching down from and returning to its Mackay base.
