Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Bell 429 'Global Ranger' Helicopter N49-049 Pops Into Gladstone Airport

Making an unexpected but most welcome visit to Gladstone Airport late in the afternoon of Sunday 26 July was Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Bell 429 'Global Ranger' helicopter N49-049.

I believe that N49-049 flew North last week via Rockhampton, and in the days since, it has been noted flying around Townsville.  I presume that on Sunday afternoon, N49-049 called into Gladstone from Townsville.  It was heard to be using its 'usual' radio callsign of "Medusa 49".

After taking on fuel, N49-049 departed to the South.

Thanks to local plane spotters Jamie and Tash for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
