On Tuesday 2 July, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Alenia C-27J Spartan transport aircraft A34-005 was spotted at Mackay Airport. It was heard to depart to and then later return from RAAF Base Amberley using the radio callsign of "Wallaby 46".
It appears that A34-005 may have started and finished its day of flying at Townsville.
The Spartan was joined on the ground at Mackay Airport in the morning also on Tuesday 2 July for a media event by Australian Army Australian Army Sikorsky S-70A-9 Blackhawk helicopter A25-218.
It was later noted departing to Townsville.
Then, as the sun was setting, also on Tuesday 2 July, fellow Australian Army Sikorsky S-70A-9 Blackhawk helicopter A25-102 also arrived into Mackay Airport, flying up from Rockhampton Airport - as mentioned below - as "Disco 102".
A25-102 was later noted continuing also up to Townsville.
It looks like Mackay Airport and the Mackay region may play host to some aircraft and helicopters during the forthcoming joint Military Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 (TS19).
