Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Alenia C-27J Spartan Transport Aircraft A34-005 Back at Rockhampton Airport and Completing Airwork at CQ Airports - Plus More!

Late on Wednesday 10 July, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Alenia C-27J Spartan transport aircraft A34-005 was noted arriving into Rockhampton Airport.  It looked to touch down from RAAF Base Amberley and was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Wallaby 02".

A34-005 has been at Rockhampton Airport over the course of last weekend and again earlier in the week.

After staying for the night, on Thursday 11 July, A34-005 took to the air and completed a training flight out and back to Rockhampton Airport which saw it complete airwork - including missed approaches - at Emerald Airport, Blackall Airport, Longreach Airport (as pictured above) and Clermont Aerodrome.

UPDATE!  On Friday 12 July, C-27J Spartan A34-005 "Wallaby 02" departed Rockhampton Airport for RAAF Base Amberley.  It later returned to Rocky before heading back to Amberley.

Meanwhile, it appears that fellow RAAF C-27J Spartan A34-010 is currently based Townsville and was noted flying into Mackay Airport late on Wednesday 10 July as "Bark 01".

It was back in the air again after dark on Thursday 11 July, heard in the skies above CQ and on a flight out and back to Townsville again as "Bark 01".

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Greg W who was at the right place at the right time at Longreach Airport to capture the visiting Spartan!
