United States Air Force (USAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III Transport Aircraft 98-0056 Departs Rockhampton Airport again as "Trek 25"

After arriving into the beef capital the previous afternoon, early on Sunday 7 July, the visiting United States Air Force (USAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft 98-0056 was photographed departing Rockhampton Airport for Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii again as "Trek 25".

After being parked on the Northern Military Hardstand, the massive aircraft completed a 'powerback' utilising the reverse thrust on its four Pratt & Whitney PW2000 engines - including the distinctive vortex produced from the inboard engines.

The Globemaster then back-tracked and departed of Rockhampton's Runway 15, making a sweeping left-hand turn and setting course for Hawaii.

Of interest, 98-0056 is flown by The 517th Airlift Squadron (517 AS) which is part of the 3rd Wing at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotters 'IAD' and local photographer Russell P for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
