Final Jetstar Flight to Mackay Airport from Gold Coast Touches Down Monday

Late on Monday 31 August, the final Jetstar Airways flight connecting Mackay Airport to the Gold Coast touched down.

Airbus A320 VH-VFQ had the honours of operating the final JST894/895 flight from and back to the Gold Coast.

Jetstar announced in June this year that these flights would be suspended and had not performed in line with the airline's expectations.  Continuing to operate them would be unsustainable.  Passenger loads on these flights have consistently been up to 10 percentage points below their domestic average.

The Jetstar flights from the Gold Coast to Mackay were only launced in June 2014 with A320 VH-VFK operating the inaugural JST894/895 linking Mackay Airport to the Gold Coast on Saturday 28 June 2014.

What a shame...
