What a great way to start a Sunday!
Early on Sunday 13 September, four of the Paul Bennet Airshow / MaxxG Aerobatics fleet called into Roma, Emerald and Clermont Airports while heading to Papua New Guinea (PNG) to participate in celebrations to mark 40 years of Independence in PNG. I took the drive from Clermont to Emerald Airport early on Sunday where I captured some photos of three of Paul Bennet's aircraft which had all just arrived from Moree and Roma.
Bennet Aviation recently acquired Amateur Built Pitts S1-11X (Wolf Pitts Pro) VH-PVX looked beautiful in the mid-morning light.
Also on the ground was Bennet Aviation Commonwealth Aircraft Corp CA-3 Wirraway Mk II Warbird VH-WWY (A20-176).
While Bennet Aviation Grumman TBM-3E Avenger Warbird VH-MML made up the three aircraft that were on the ground.
Each took on fuel before departing further North to Charters Towers and further stops to Port Moresby.
One other aircraft joined the three and had also landed at Emerald to take on fuel, however it had departed to Clermont Aerodrome by the time that I arrived. Aerostar YAK-52 VH-MHH flew into Clermont very briefly to 'top-up' before it continued to Charters Towers as well.
Thanks to my darling wife for capturing these quick photos of VH-MHH.
It is expected that all four aircraft will be heading to the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour after their commitments in PNG. I'm told they will be stored at Shute Harbour until the weekend of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September when the Airlie Beach Airshow will be held at the Whitsunday Airport. Should be a great weekend!
