More Photos as USAF Special Operations Squadron Lockheed MC-130J Hercules 12-5761 Departs and Returns to Rockhampton Airport

As posted below, late on Saturday 1 July, United States Air Force (USAF) Special Operations Squadron Lockheed MC-130J Hercules 12-5761 touched down at Rockhampton Airport from Cairns as "Spock 42".

Local plane spotters Kayanne H and Don W popped out to Rockhampton Airport on Sunday 2 July and captured some great photos as the Herc rested quietly on the Northern Military Hardstand.

A little later in the morning, 12-5761 departed Rockhampton Airport bound for Darwin.  It has since departed Darwin on a return flight back to Rocky where I assume that it will stay for the night once again.

Designated as a MC-130J Commando II, 12-5761 is flown by the 17th Special Operations Squadron (17 SOS) and is part of the 353rd Special Operations Group at Kadena Air Base in Japan.  It was the reportedly the first ever MC-130J delivered to Kadena in late 2014.

Sincere thanks to Kayanne and Don for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
