Local plane spotter Kayanne H was at the right place at the right time to capture Australian Army Boeing CH-47D Chinook A15-104 as it called into Rockhampton on Monday 1 June.
A15-104 - flying as "Brahman 104" - called in from Mackay and departed a little later for the Sunshine Coast.
It is believed that A15-104 was on a flight South from Townsville following its retirement from 5th Aviation Regiment. It is believed that the 'Chook' will be placed on display at a museum in the coming weeks.
The retirement of A15-104 comes after fellow Army Chinook A15-106 was retired from service in April this year. A15-106 eventually flew into RAAF Base Point Cook in Victoria where it will be displayed at the RAAF Museum at the Base.
The older CH-47D Chinooks are slowly being retired from service as the Army take delivery of newer CH-47F model Chinook helicopters. Recently delivered A15-302 has been spotted a couple of times in the skies over Townsville over recent weeks.
Sincere thank to Kayanne for these great photos from Rocky!
