FastJet Adventure Flights Operating Aero Vodochody L-39C Albatross VH-NLD at Whitsunday Airport Shute Harbour

What a spectacular morning at the Whitsunday Airport (WAVE) at Shute Harbour on Saturday 6 June with Aero Vodochody L-39C Albatross VH-NLD conducting two spectacular aerobatic joyflights for two very lucky local paying customers!

VH-NLD is semi-based at the Whitsunday Airport having been positioned there in late 2014.  Bathurst-based Fastjet Adventure Flights operate the Albatross out of Shute Harbour on selected weekends - with this weekend coinciding with the Whitsunday Airports Helicopter Fly-in.

After completing a 30 minute pre-flight briefing, the passenger is strapped into the rear seat and is joined by pilot Charlie before engines are started.

After taxiing to the end of Runway 14, VH-NLD made a spectacular departure, watched on by some very interested spectators all over the Airport!

After the 30 minute flight, VH-NLD touched back down at the Whitsunday Airport.

VH-NLD was soon back in the air again with another excited customer enjoying another 30 minute aerobatic joyflight over the Whitsundays.

After returning on their second flight, I was lucky enough to be invited over for a closer look at the Albatross including the surprisingly spacious cockpit.

Sincere thanks to both the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour and the crew from FastJet Adventure Flights for the opportunity to have an up-close look at the joyflight operations on Saturday.  If you want to know what 900km/h or 5G of force feels like call FastJet Adventure Flights on 0409 455 084 or visit their website to book your spot now!!
